Come as You Are
Welcome to New Bearings Counseling. For me working as a therapist means the opportunity to join you as you navigate your way through our complex world. My approach to therapy is founded in my belief that you are the expert on your own life and that I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to join you on your way. I see myself not as a teacher but a guide in helping you find a new path or adjust the one that you are already on.
I work with clients with diverse experiences including trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, and substance use. I practice trauma-informed, individualized care including trauma reprocessing through EMDR, skill building, mindfulness, spirituality, and healing through nature.
I am grateful to work and live in Lingít Aaní, the ancestral lands of the Áakʼw Ḵwáan and Taku Ḵwáan peoples of the Tlingit Nation. As a Western-trained psychotherapist I am committed to continuing work toward de-colonizing psychotherapy and honoring traditional and cultural ways of healing.
If you are interested in working with me, please reach out through the contact button at the top of the page or call 907-419-9437 and we will set up a free 15-minute session to meet and explore working together.
